“International Street Photography Portfolio” would be another name for this collection—this is the fringe of my documentary photography—completely alienated from subjects by way of language and learning, yet connected by the intangible energy of our social nature, lingering in the air, directing the lens with its light…
No matter what can be said of borders now and in to the future, their influence through history is felt today more than most things. When I cross them, I look to photograph the common threads of daily existence; the person as they interact with their state, their system, their circumstance.
Producing this series is an effort in communicating the various emotions felt by people from all places in regard to how they fit in, what their relationships with social systems are like. These observations, however, come from a place of complete human instinct instead of native cultural understanding.
A companion project for my travels stateside at the same time can be seen at About America.
