The first volume of this project was a two-year experiment from 2013-2015 where I would use my Fuji Instax 210 to capture abstracted forms of light. It was largely a collection of random efforts, grouped together after the fact by what gave certain images aesthetic similarity.
This reprise is much more intentional. My time sober and in recovery has been one of immense difficulty for me from a creative standpoint, and trying to regain my footing in my practice has lead me to revisit old methods with a refined conceptual approach. This is very much still a period of transition for me.
Considering all of that, this volume is using similar techniques to capture abstracted color fields, but more focused in crafting similar narratives of transition through a series of four-image sets. These image sets are meant to showcase the single polaroids as their own presence of light, yet within the context of the rest, the meaning of the photo is redefined by the fact it is actually just a piece of something more.
