Getting sober was the easy part, one of the counselors at the psych ward was saying to the group. Now the work begins. Given that 'getting sober' for me was a four-day nervous breakdown followed by eight in a psych ward, I wasn't sure exactly what to expect down the line.
I spent the following nine months trying to rebuild my life, and this gallery will feature works made as a thesis on the complications that come with such a process—managing the idea of growth in a world spinning out of control, living alone in an unfamiliar city, and doing whatever it takes to not follow my own instincts toward self-destruction.
