it’s really quite something to have museums like the broad & moca exist free of charge. during my trip today i thought about the emotional sum total of what is on view. in browsing other museums in the past, i’d often make my way quickly through the rooms that held art i wasn’t particularly interested in, wondering what it would be like to see a museum that held predominantly what i enjoyed.

in all honesty, i sort of prefer the museums with a bit more variety. walking from a room full of warhol to a room full of basquiat is such an overwhelmingly emotional experience that it’d be nice to have some renaissance works up to break up the powerful aesthetics of contemporary american.

no complaints, though. it’s a perfectly fine way to spend a tuesday afternoon.
