Somewhere In-Between

“Somewhere In-Between,” 2021; Oil & misc on linen; 16×20 in.

something new, that doesn’t belong to any singular project

this is such an interesting time for art because there’s all this abstract theory that has been built up around art (all related to its relationship to capitalist institutions) which has helped in establishing this first-world marketplace that is crushing down on a generation of student debt incurred at art schools, and I know everyone seemed to think that Trump was the era that art would make a cultural imprint, but I think that it’s more coming up, when artists begin drawing lines in the sand about who is standing where, and more importantly who is pushing others out to sea, as the tide approaches.
