“Accountability” was the big buzzword of the 2020 election and is now in the liberal media fray. It’s this year’s word that holds just enough meaning to be political, but so much subjectivity in its potential that it’s effectively meaningless as a promise. Perfect for democrats.
I think of this word and how stupid and ineffective it is when I look at images like this, which was stolen from Twitter. It’s a screenshot of Dallas, Texas, and the power outage complaints ten hours into a severe and freezing winter storm. Highland Park is, as one might guess, the wealthiest neighborhood in the city.
There is no ‘accountability’ for this. This isn’t a problem that a party platform will solve unless that party platform is overthrowing capitalism. This is how industry performs: for their best customers. A state run as a business treats the people as if they have to buy their way into life. This is an abhorrent concept to begin with, much less pass down over generations. At this point I have less respect for liberals than I do for conservatives, because at least conservatives stand for something. Like, if you’re going to be evil and self-centered, just admit it so we can have an honest debate.
It sure will be interesting to see how the state responds but, given it’s Texas, I wouldn’t count on much.
